Storytelling_THE RITUAL
The performance Storytelling_THE RITUAL, opened the a hurting BODY in a wounded WORLD exhibition at La Taller gallery space in Bilbao in October 2024.
The artist wore a suit designed and created by dressmaker Rosa Rubio, that allowed her to unveil certain parts of her skin uncovering tattoos that represent a part of her family’s history on her body.
With the sound of CUERPO MUNDO CARA A as a background, the artist visited each one of the artworks with an offering in the form of a caring gesture and/or a 'carrier bag' .
Story/History telling is an essential part of the ‘BODY WORLD’ project. The project asks, both the artist and the spectators, to question and pay attention to the stories/history we tell and relate too. Specifically, the artist has an interest in including all the parts usually left aside, leftover and discarded for the stories/histories. These take material form in the ‘carrier bags’ that accompany some of the ‘Mutation Works’. These bags have been filled with leftover materials from the production of each work, also focusing on the generation of waste materials in the studio and its management. In their form, they are a conceptual reference to the essay ‘The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction’ by Ursula K. Le Guin.

La performance Narrar_EL RITUAL inauguró la exposición un CUERPO doliente en un MUNDO Herido en la galería La Taller de Bilbao en octubre de 2024.
La artista vistió un traje diseñado y creado por la modista Rosa Rubio, que le permitió revelar ciertas partes de su piel, dejando al descubierto tatuajes que representan parte de la historia familiar sobre su cuerpo. Con la música de CUERPO MUNDO CARA A de fondo, la artista visitó cada una de las obras con una ofrenda en forma de gesto cuidadoso y/o una 'bosla transportadora'.
La narración de historias y de la historia es una parte esencial del proyecto 'CUERPO MUNDO'. El proyecto pide, tanto a la artista como a los espectadores, que cuestionen y presten atención a las historias que contamos y con las que nos relacionamos. En concreto, la artista tiene interés en incluir todas las partes que normalmente se dejan de lado, que sobran y que se descartan en/de las historias. Estas toman forma material en las “bolsas transportadoras” que acompañan a algunas de las 'Obras de mutación'. Estas bolsas se han llenado con los materiales sobrantes de la producción de cada obra, poniendo también la mirada en la generación de materiales residuales en el taller y su gestión. En la forma que toman, son una referencia conceptual al ensayo “La bolsa transportadora como teoría de la ficción” de Ursula K. Le Guin.
