Handroot II_Territory
Based on the MUTATION superpower from the Superpowers: invisibility_flight_mutation and the Handroot Superpower works for Seeds for Resistance, the artist revisited the ideas of connection to her family’s history and the land they inhabited as well as her desire to pass those stories and legacy to her daughter.
Handroot II_Territory returns and brings to the present moment that connection showing the new layers that appear through the ill body. The family history reveals now new discoveries on how the illness is partially connected to the artist’s ancestry.
The work is made up of three parts/layers. The print, a superimposed image of tree roots, landscapes and tree branches; the crocheted work, done while visiting and reproducing the forms and colors of the landscape where her father’s family lived in the Pyrenees; the photograph, showing the artist’s partially tattooed left thigh, with a tattoo of the drawing of the Handroot, while sitting in the field by the river she use to camp on as a child with her parents in the same land her father grew up in the Pyrenees.

Basándose en el superpoder MUTATION de las obras Superpoderes: invisibilidad_vuelo_mutación y Manoraíz Superpoder para Semillas para la resistencia, la artista revisó las ideas de conexión con la historia de su familia y la tierra que habitaron, así como su deseo de transmitir esas historias y legado a su hija.
Handroot II_Territory regresa y trae al presente esa conexión, mostrando las nuevas capas que aparecen a través del cuerpo enfermo. La historia familiar revela ahora nuevos descubrimientos sobre cómo la enfermedad está parcialmente conectada con la ancestralidad de la artista.
La obra se compone de tres partes/capas: la impresión, una imagen superpuesta de raíces, paisajes y ramas de árboles; la obra de ganchillo, realizada durante una visita y reproduciendo las formas y colores del paisaje donde vivía la familia de su padre en los Pirineos; La fotografía muestra el muslo izquierdo parcialmente tatuado de la artista, con un tatuaje del dibujo de Handroot, mientras está sentada en el campo junto al río en el que solía acampar de niña con sus padres en la misma tierra en la que creció su padre en los Pirineos.
