Actions_Workshops_Gatherings > Subversive Knitting Group Gathering and Closing Reception

Few weeks before September 2014 the artists and and member of the coop bookstore La Caníbal, Jesús Arpal-Moya, independent curator Pilar Cruz and I were sitting around a table in the back of the bookstore. They have asked me to meet with them to talk about this idea they had to create a Subversive Knitting group. The idea was to create a feminist and anticapitalist periodical gathering of people that would take textile practices as its common thread.

That was how it all started, and six years later the gatherings of Mitja Subversiva continue to be my home and the navigation guide I most use in these troubled times and damaged planet we live in.

It was only fitting to share with Mitja Subversiva the space and the time of the closing of this exhibition. We gathered, we talked, we embroidered, we knitted, we crocheted, we read, we hugged, we held space for each other… we continued to create community and critical thinking.
