::sixth mutation::
The ::sixth mutation:: poem is a very short poem that speaks of the feeling that Irene Pe's body has changed so radically that it has left her feeling like she doesn't know who she is. This happened because the body has been traversed by two main events: motherhood and illness. There is a very clear awareness that the body is no longer what it had been. But the poem doesn't speak of a void, rather of a "before." That "before" no longer exists, but it has left traces, remains.
Through photography, the artwork presents these remains, even in fossil form, of what the body was, which still exist even though they no longer compose the body —the artist's and the world's, as they once did. Through the textile part of the work, which represents the artist's hair and her daughter's, Irene Pe makes a reference to the generational connection of the illness, to the people in her family who lived with the same illness she now has. Here again, the artist's connects this project with that of Seeds for Resistance, since both have the same purpose: to be a legacy and a tool for navigating the world for her daughter.

El poema ::sexta mutación:: es un poema muy corto que habla de la sensación de que el cuerpo de la artista ha cambiado tan radicalmente que ha dejado una sensación de no saber quien es. Esto ocurre porque el cuerpo ha sido principalmente atravesado por dos eventos: la maternidad y la enfermedad. Hay una conciencia muy clara que el cuerpo ya no es el que había sido. Pero el poema no habla de un vacío, sino que habla de un “antes”. Ese “antes” ya no existe pero ha dejado poso, restos.
La obra presenta, a través de la fotografía, estos restos materiales, fósiles incluso, de lo que fue el cuerpo, que a aun existen aunque ya no compongan el cuerpo, el de la artista y el del mundo, como antes. A través de la parte textil de la obra,, que representa el pelo de Irene Pe y el de su hija, hace una referencia a la conexión generacional de la enfermedad, con las personas de su familia que convivieron con la misma enfermedad que tiene la artista. Aquí de nuevo, conecta este proyecto con el de Semillas para la resistencia, ya que ambos tienen un mismo propósito, el de ser legado y herramienta de navegación en el mundo para su hija.
